SIZZLING BACONS ROLL ON; COPE COPES WITH DOUBLE DOUBLES PDF Print Email

Results from the club finals on Saturday 17th September.

The ladies' singles final was contested by the same players as in 2010 and 2009; 15 year old Natalie Bacon and little-bit older Ali Burd each of whom had one previous title. This time the honours went to Natalie after a close contest which went to three sets.  In the men's singles Natalie's brother Gregory Bacon won for the third year running, beating club coach Alex Button in a hard-hitting slugfest.

Sarah Thacker and Dani Grant triumphed in the ladies' doubles, while Chris Cope and Ross Seymour took the men's title in a final set tie-break nailbiter. Pausing only for a tin of lemonade, Cope cooly went on to partner the stylish Jane Ryder-Richardson to victory in the mixed doubles.

All except one final went to three sets. Congratulations to all the worthy victors, and see you at awards night on October 15th.
